Having joined up with the coach of FC Barcelona, Sarunas Jasikevicius, last month, it was fitting that our family vacation was to be in the Catalan city. In fact, we went to watch FC Barcelona play at the Palau Blaugrana in what turned out to be a fairly intense “holiday”.

But it was my son, Dominic, who was the main draw to Spain with his Vilnius school basketball team in action in a local tournament. Outside of basketball we visited Barcelona’s main attractions and even took some time out on the beach — one of Barcelona’s unique charms as a major city.

We rounded off our trip by celebrating my wife, Tatjana’s, birthday ahead of a family day out at PortAventura World. Well, I did say it was a fairly intense “holiday”, didn’t I!?
